Can I report defects from Testuff?
Yes! Use our nifty bug reporter to export defects to your tracker. We have made it specially so that you can comfortably report bugs without the hassle of filling out an excess of form fields. It also allows to you easily take screenshots and add attachments. If a video was recorded during a test, then the video will be attached to the defect reporter automatically.
Not working with a bug tracker? No problem. You can use Testuff Defects tab to track your defects. Report defects, edit them, attach files, update their status… it’s all there.
How do I report defects?
First of all, set up tracker integration. Then you may open defects in several ways:
- Use the whistle icon at the top of the Testuff window for fast reporting of bugs, which are not test specific.
- Fail a step during a test run to open the Bug Reporter. The bug will be reported for the test you are running at that time.
- Click the Report a bug whistle icon in the test runner. This will open a bug for the test, but it will not tie it to any of the steps.
Can I report using an existing defect?
Sure. If you find a defect while testing, but you know it was reported already, you can use that same defect. Saves time, and helps keep the defects list shorter and more efficient to work with.
In the Bug Reporter, go to the Link an existing defect tab, search for the defect and click on the Link button when ready. It’s that easy.
Can I add custom bug tracker fields to the defect reporter?
Yes. You’ll find it in the bug tracker settings window.
Also, when reporting a defect, consider checking the Open defect in browser checkbox. This way, after exporting the defect to the tracker, it will automatically be opened in the browser so that you can add any additional fields you like.
Can I customize the reported defect fields?
Yep. In the bug tracker settings window, under the Customization tab you will see the Defect template option. Click Edit to build it your way.
See more details on how to do it here.
What about customizing my defect status values?
Sure. Many users want to match their reported defect statuses to the values they have in their bug trackers. That’s why we support customization of the defect status values in Testuff.
Go to the Settings–>Customization window and click Get (if supported, this option will show up in the Settings–>Bug tracker tab as well) or Edit next to the defect status. Click add at the bottom of the window, to add new values, or highlight an existing value and right-click it to delete (hitting delete on the keyboard will do as well).
The Defect Severity field is added to any bug report, and always shows in the bug reporter as part of the description. You can control its values under Settings–>Customization. If your tracker includes a same field, Testuff will replace the values for it with the tracker field’s values.

Associating defects to requirements
You can assign a reported defect to a requirement, even if the defect was not reported from a test that was previously assigned to this requirement. Use the right-click menu option on a defect for Assign to requirement.
